Has a week flown by already since my last post? We've been busy...

We started some seedlings for our vegetable garden on Wednesday. This year we're trying eggplant and strawberries along with the beans, lettuce, tomatoes, squash and zucchini like we had last year. We planted our seedlings in this little greenhouse and instead of keeping it outside (since it's still so cold) we keep it in my bathtub where the morning sun pours in through the window. Unfortunately, due to the unforeseen sicknesses this week, our poor seedlings are already getting neglected. I promise to water them tomorrow. If not...we may have to start over...

Lia may have been interested in playing with dirt, but we kept her distracted so that she wouldn't get in our way (or should I say Ava's way).

Can you see my poor little potted herbs? They used to be so full and green. Can't wait for this cold weather to go away. Did I mention that our high's will be in the 50's for the next THREE days?!?

And Lia is always mixing things up by getting into such FUN things, like unraveling the toilet paper, or tearing apart the "tupperware" cabinet, or playing with the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, or taking each of her diapers out of the basket and throwing them over her shoulder.

And then there was Thursday night. I work for four straight hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6-10pm. Work for me is tutoring math online - and since our office does not have a door that we can close, I have to lock myself in my bedroom where I sit with my laptop and talk to kids on the computer explaining how to factor a polynomial, graph a trig function, find the roots of complex numbers, etc.
SOOO, Thursday evening Gramma came over (like she always does) to help with the girls until Daddy came home. I settled in to my precalculus session and only about 45 minutes into it I heard Ava screaming. Anthony had just gotten home, so he and my mom tried to calm her down. But she wouldn't have it. You see, just an hour or two earlier she started saying that her ears hurt. It was obvious we had to take her to see a doctor - immediately. So I left my students with the other tutors, put on my crocs and a sweatshirt, and hopped in the van with Anthony and Ava. Thankfully Gramma was still here to stay with Lia. We drove for 25 minutes to the nearest after hours pediatric urgent care center, and Ava was screaming the entire time even though I was twisted in my seat so that she could hold my hand. And what do you know? She had two ear infections. The doctor looked in one ear and said, "OH she has a reason to be upset" and then he looked at the other and said, "wow, even worse". So he gave her the magical drops and some motrin and she was back to her normal self within minutes. We got home and all settled in to bed, and then Lia woke up crying. Remember how I posted earlier that she's been sleeping so well? Not this night. She was up every few hours...with a fever. So Friday morning I found myself at our pediatrician, where Lia was also diagnosed with an ear infection in both ears.
Not only do my girls share laughter and toys, they also share sicknesses. So for a few days we were dosing out antibiotics, ear drops, and motrin every so many hours.

And that brings us to Saturday...where Mommy gets sick. I woke up with pain, a sore throat, a fever, and lots of pressure. I just KNEW I had an ear infection too. Off to the urgent care clinic I went (since of course this happens after hours or on weekends) and I was diagnosed with sinusitis. Gramma and Nana to the rescue on Saturday - they watched both girls while I spent the day in bed. Sunday, Mimi to the rescue while I was still recovering and Anthony was preparing for the Superbowl. Monday wasn't fun either, but at least I felt well enough to get Ava off to school and attempt to get some basic grocery shopping done.

Today is MUCH better. The girls are doing great, but we fear that Daddy is going to come down with something soon...

Lia is really into feeding herself lately. Dinner tonight was mac-n-cheese and pureed peas! (not that she needs pureed peas, but we still have them left from a major baby food purchase I made)

Tomorrow is Ava's last day of school for the week and thankfully they are having their Valentine's party on Wednseday! She picked out Mickey Mouse valentine cards and worked very hard at writing her name and putting heart stickers on each one.

Is she looking more like her Daddy??

Whoa!! What a week, I mean really, two kids with TWO ear infections each, then you get sick too! Love the "sick" picture of you. You still look fabulous! And how brave to let Lia feed herself green peas with a white shirt and no bib, in our house, that would be EVERYWHERE! I can't believe how much hair Lia has! I love it. We have to get together SOON.

I wish this site had other options to check than the three they do have. Like CHARMING, ADORABLE, PRECIOUS, CUTEST IN THE WORLD, ETC. Just to mention a few. So sweet are those girls, can't be just their gramma that thinks so?
Thanks for the pictures, we love seeing their everyday moments!
Signed, G.C.

P.S. Conor does the same thing with the toilet paper as Lia. He loves it!
