Hello October

October has come and it's already almost gone. Why is it that almost every email, post, text, or phone call starts with a disclaimer: "I've just been so busy lately..." ? On the one hand I don't like that I'm so busy. Like when I look at the blog and realize it's been almost an entire month since my last post and yet it feels like the weeks passed by in the blink of an eye. On the other hand I like that I'm so busy. I like that we are busy with fun activities and jobs and family life.

A few of our activities this month:


Ava's first field trip. To the fire station. And consequently, her first ride on a school "bus".

I'm so glad I was able to meet the class there and be a part of her first field trip. Snapping pictures the whole time of course.






One of my favorite parts of this field trip was the fact that there was both a male and a female fire-fighter. Especially when Ava said, "Did you know that girls can be fire-fighters?"


We also had a fun fundraiser to participate in for Ava's school. They call it "Wheel Days" and the kids ride their bikes to help raise money for classroom school supplies. Ava alone raked in about 80 big ones. Way to go!



Last weekend we visited one of our local "Fall Festivals" so that we could finally get a pumpkin. I had plans of dressing the girls in cute matching dresses. Unfortunately when we left the house early that morning for the soccer game, I forgot the dresses. So much for my coordinated photos. It turns out the girls were really in no mood to take pictures anyway, so I guess it's not such a big loss...

And then we painted our pretty little pumpkin. Daddy thought this was a better idea than carving. I have to admit, it was a smart move. No messy pumpkin insides to clean up...
