Morning has broken

I woke up this morning to sweet little baby talk...enjoying the fact that I don't have an alarm clock barking at me to wake up. How lucky am I to wake up to the sounds of my little girls every morning? After opening my eyes, I realized that Anthony was missing from his usual spot right next to me. I got out of bed, changed Lia's diaper, opened all the windows and snuck into Ava's room. This is what I saw:

It is such a warm feeling to see how your husband loves your children. How he loves them enough to wake up in the middle of the night (without you knowing) to comfort them when they cry out...even if it means he'll end up spending the rest of his night stuck between a wall and a 2-year-old.

Lia and I took a short walk outside while we were waiting for the other half of our household to wake up. The gardenia bushes were covered in buds ready to bloom.

The lettuce in our garden is going to be delicious! These little seedlings are looking great.

Surprise! The zucchini and squash plants are breaking through! Saying good morning to the sun as they push their way through the soil.

We've had a house full of sickies this week. First Ava came down with a cold, then it spread to me, and finally caught up with Lia. There was one night where I was holding Ava in the bathroom with the hot water running so that she could breathe a little easier - enough to fall asleep again. There was another night where Anthony and I took turns pacing the house with Lia while she cried with frustration (still not sure if it was a stuffy nose or the start of teething). Last night I spent four hours on my computer tutoring math students with my nasal voice...and turning off my microphone every few minutes so I could sneeze.
Luckily though, today we all feel better and we're welcoming the weekend with open arms.
